Hudson Highlights

Where to Shop and Eat in Hudson, NY

We made our first visit to Hudson in over a decade and the main retail district, Warren Street, is better than ever—with block after block of interesting and eclectic stores. It’s fun to take a couple hours, stroll the mile-long stretch and pop into shops—from pricey and trendy boutiques to old school antique stores.

Most shops are small, locally-owned businesses that reflect the personality and passions of the proprietor. If you don’t care to shop, enjoy the architecture. The street is lined with well-preserved, historic, mostly 19th-century buildings.

Hudson is an authentic place with a great spirit. Here’s a handful of favorite spots.

Baba Louie’s—Awesome wood-fired sourdough pizza (and great salads)

Fig and Bella—Hand-dyed scarves and pillows, fine home goods and beauty products

Finch—High-end vintage and modern goods for the home

Hudson Hat Co.—Killer hat selection. Great denim, too. My wife bought a repurposed denim cross-body bag with “the perfect amount of pockets, in all the right places,” she says. Very cool, retro and stylish.

Hudsontricity—Fun selection of fashion and home goods

Les Indiennes—Exquisite handmade, block-print, organic cotton textiles including: quilts, duvets and other bedding; pillows; curtains; and table linens. Wallpaper, too.

Lili and Loo—An emporium of interesting furniture, objects and art

Little Rico—Juice bar and Latin-inspired dishes, smoothies and “superfood smoothie bowls,” and great baked goods, too. We had a delicious, healthy lunch here: chickpea guisado and an adobo chicken rice bowl. Super-cute and cheerful place. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options.

Love Thy Beast—Boutique pet store with stylish canine clothing, very cool toys and other unique goods for your dog. (Marble dog bowl, anyone?) Toys and treats for cats, too.

Minna—Ethically handmade homewares made in collaboration with artisans across Latin America. Truly special items that you won’t find elsewhere.

The Quiet Botanist—Dried flower arrangements. Beautiful botanical chocolates. Apothecary featuring all-natural items. An entrancing, mysterious shop.

The Social Type—Greeting cards, paper goods, writing tools. You’ll have a hard time leaving here empty-handed.

The Spotty Dog—Indy bookstore that serves terrific hand-crafted ales. What more do you need to know?

Again, this is just a sampling of worthy stops on Warren Street. There is lots to explore. More to come. Next visit!
